Quick Take Review

Coffee. Got to have it in the mornings, like just about everybody else. My wife, however, needs a little extra and prefers a mocha to start her day. At home, making one is a pretty straightforward process. Thanks to our handy Saeco machine, all it takes is a little espresso, some chocolate syrup and steamed milk and there you have it, an almost-professional-grade mocha. In camp, it’s a little more challenging. A couple of years ago, I came up with a recipe that works reasonably well. But what I didn’t have was a mug large enough to accommodate a drink of sufficient size. That is until now.

In prep for a week’s long trip this summer, I began scouring the internet (an local retailers) for a large metal or plastic camp mug. There were surprisingly few options. The best I found was the GSI Pioneer 24 oz mug. It’s big, exactly the right size for a morning mocha, a hot cereal or serving of soup. It comes in three colors, red, green and the traditional blue. The quality is exceptional like other GSI products including the Stemless Wine Glass also reviewed here. And although heavier than those fancy titanium mugs, it’s a heck of a lot less expensive. Highly recommended.
