Quick Take Review
There’s just something about an early morning run to start the day off right. But to tell the truth, I hate being cold. As the temps dip into the mid-to-low 40s, I need an extra layer. One of the go-to pieces in my closet is the Brooks Infiniti ½ Zip.
Out of the box, the Infiniti ½ Zip looks sleek and feels plush. The long silhouette drops slightly below the waist and the mid-weight fabric stretches in every direction making for an extremely comfortable fit.
Four features define the Infiniti ½ Zip. Chief among these, of course, is the high zippered collar. All the way up, it covers the neck and keeps the cold out. Need more ventilation, it drops to the mid chest for as much airflow as needed as the outside temps rise.

Next up is the polyester and spandex fabric Brooks chose for the Infiniti ½ Zip. Although not wind or waterproof, it does a more than adequate job of keeping cold out and warmth in. The stretch provided by the spandex is terrific making this one of the most comfortable pieces in the GearGuide closet. One note: the fabric tends to retain post-workout funk, so make sure you wash between uses.
The two final features are very nice details added by Brooks. The first of these is the thumb loops at the cuff which help to keep the hands warm without gloves on colder days. The second is the zippered hip pocket just big enough for a packet of gels or a current generation iPod Nano. Both nice touches.
Brooks cut the Infiniti ½ Zip trim but true size. It hugs the body and provides enough room underneath for a t-shirt. Sleeves are longer than normal to cover the palm, but not overly so.
The Brooks Infiniti ½ Zip is a great cold weather piece. As the temps drop in your neighborhood – as they have in mine – definitely give the Brooks Infiniti ½ Zip a try. You won’t be disappointed.
