ASICS Storm Shelter Jacket Review

ASICS Storm Shelter

First Impressions

Dynamite. The ASICS Storm Shelter Jacket arrived in a brilliant red and was one of those products that impressed right out of the box. High quality fabrics and great detailing make the Storm Shelter a real standout when the going gets wet.

Features

ASICS designed the Storm Shelter Jacket for those cold, rainy days when hardshell protection is a must. Thanks to the Storm Shelter’s polyester/nylon exterior and sealed seams, we found the jacket delivered the waterproofing necessary for those tough days on the road.

Hardshell running jackets can often cause overheating, but that wasn’t the case with the Storm Shelter. ASICS placed front-facing pit zips on the jacket and rear vents for added airflow that definitely helped keep us cool.

Specs
Fabric: Waterproof polyester and mesh lining
Weight: 1 lb 2 oz

Other features include three pockets: two handwarmers and one small zippered interior pocket just big enough for an iPod or smart phone. Reflective accents are placed throughout the jacket on the sleeve, shoulder and rear.

One of my favorite details is the elongated stretch cuff (or gaiter) which includes thumb holes allowing you to forego the gloves on all but the coldest runs.

Fit

The Storm Shelter fits true to size. No need to size up or down.

Final Verdict

ASICS gets things exactly right with the Storm Shelter Jacket. Waterproof. Breathable. Warm. When it’s wet outside, the Storm Shelter is a go-to running jacket that doesn’t disappoint.
