REI Packable Fleet Jacket

REI Packable Fleet Jacket

REI Packable Fleet Jacket

First Impressions

REI continues to deliver some of the best private-label outdoor apparel and gear on the market. And the Packable Fleet Jacket doesn’t disappoint. We were impressed with its light weight – a mere 5.5 ounces – and build quality.

Features

Don’t get me wrong, the Packable Fleet Jacket is a spare offering. It’s not packed with pockets and special features. But it does deliver good wind and water resistance and some very thoughtful detailing.

Specs
Fabric: Lightweight polyester
Weight: 5.5 oz
Pack Size: 9.5 x 4 x 2 in

Details include special ventilation along the wrists and under the arms, a soft, mesh-lined collar and reflective accents. In addition, REI provides a single napoleon chest pocket large enough for an MP3 player or other small items. There’s a pass through hole for earphones. This pocket doubles as the storage sack for the jacket. Turn the jacket inside out and stuff it into the small opening, zip it up and pack it away. Simple.

REI also adds one very thoughtful and often overlooked feature. Located at the upper left chest, REI placed a small hook and loop tab that connects to a corresponding patch on right. Connect them together, and this will keep your jacket from sliding off your shoulders when zipped down for ventilation. Very nice touch.

Fit

The Packable Fleet Jacket runs small. Unless you prefer a snug fit, go up one size. My normally medium frame fit well in a large.

Final Verdict

REI delivers a great little jacket with the Packable Fleet. It’s spare but also extremely light weight. Throw it in your pack and you have an extra layer when you need it. It should be versatile enough for morning runs and other aerobic activities. Find all the Fleet products at REI.
