Target Dry Mac in a Sac Jacket Review

Target Dry Mac in Sac Jacket

Target Dry Mac in Sac Jacket

First Impressions

Based in Belfast, UK manufacturer Target Dry provides a range of waterproof products including coats, pants, one-piece suits and boots. The company’s Mac in Sac packable jacket is their mainstay product. It’s been in production since 1987 and was redesigned for the 2012 season.

Features

The Mac in Sac comes packed in its own bag – hence the clever name – and is built from a waterproof, breathable polyester. The fabric feels plastic coated but this contributes to the waterproofing, which the manufacturers rates at 5000mm. Target Dry tapes the interior seams to prevent them from leaking as well. We found the waterproofing performed well on a recent June trip to the Sierras that felt more winter-like than Summer.

Specs
Fabric: Polyester
Weight: 10 oz
Pack size: 8 x 4 x 4 in

The jacket is also breathable and there’s a large rear vent that helps to evacuate moisture from the interior of the jacket.

Other features include two zippered handwarmer pockets, a drawstring waist and a built-in hood..

Fit

The Mac in Sac fits as expected. No need to size up or down.

Final Verdict

What’s not to like about the Mac in Sac? Clever name, vibrant colors, solid waterproofing and breath-ability. Even with the shipping costs from the UK, this packable jacket still slides in at under $60, making it a decent value as well. Find it at Target Dry.
