Injinji Outdoor Series Trail Sock Review

Injinji – if you haven’t heard of them before – manufactures a line of performance toe socks. Think Vibram Five Fingers but in sock form. In fact, the company bills itself as the maker of “the original performance toesock.” We always found the look a little unusual, but in reality the company’s products are quite comfortable and hard wearing.

The Injinji Outdoor Series Trail Sock employs a combination of Nuwool, a brand of Australian Merino wool, and Lycra and nylon. It’s a midweight product with moderate cushioning, what Injinji refers to as “original weight.”

Specs
Materials: 70% Merino wool, 25 nylon, 5% Lycra
Weight: 1.75 oz

The sock uses the patented Injinji toe design which wraps each digit individually unlike more traditional socks. The purpose is to keep the toes dry and prevent blisters. We found the approach very comfortable although it took a little getting used to. Putting the Injinji socks on took more effort than a traditional pair (a task that’s almost impossible in the dark wee morning hours before my 5:00 am run). However, when you can see what you’re doing, it’s not a problem.

The fit of the Injinji Outdoor Series Trail sock was good. We opted for medium which fits up to men’s 10.5 according to the Injinji sizing guide and they worked fine on our size 11 feet. My advice, buy your normal size.

We liked the design of the arch support (banding around the midfoot) and the height of the mini crew top.

Overall, the Injinji Outdoor Series Trail Sock is a great product. It takes just a little more time to put on and some getting used to. But once you’ve gotten over those minor hurdles, I think you’ll like the product just as much as we did.
