Quick Take Review:
Looking for innovation in biking soft goods? Look North to Seattle. There you’ll find Detours, a small manufacturer that’s been designing interesting products in the space for the past seven years or so. Detours offerings cover the bike from stem to stern. There are top-tube and seat bags, bags for your handlebars, rack trunks, market bags, panniers and a range of other accessories. For this test, we received the Detours Wedgie, size medium.
The Detours Wedgie is a seat bag capable of swallowing 40 cubic inches of cargo. The sides and top employ a semi-rigid nylon enabling the Wedgie to never lose its shape. Forget about the floppy nylon seat bags of old. The Wedgie can handle a wallet, keys (there’s a nice key keeper strap and hook firmly attached inside the zippered compartment), a flat repair kit, small tools and maybe a small cell phone. In our tests, when attempting the cell-phone fit, the medium Wedgie was able to engulf a fairly typical Android smart phone, but that was about it. If you need to pack more gear, go for the large which holds 60 cubic inches of whatever you need.

Attaching the Detours Wedgie was a snap. Or a button as the case may be. You find said button on the right side of the Wedgie. On the left, Detours locates the elastic strap that wraps the seat post, attaches to the button and holds the Wedgie securely in place. Nice innovation. The Wedgie is further held in place by two heavy duty hook and loop straps directly below the seat.
The Detours Wedgie comes in five cool colors including red (our sample), blue, green, orange and basic black. We liked the fit, finish, quality construction and easy attachment. And at $20 MSRP, the Detours Wedgie is one of the least expensive bags of its type on the market. Keep up the great work Detours.
