Stability Running Shoe Reviews

Hit the time machine button and travel back to 2011. That was the last time we looked seriously at the stability shoe category. The ebb and flow of the fitness industry has shifted away from this type of shoe over the past two years. Indeed many shops now stock fewer and fewer of them, opting instead for broader selections of lightweight and minimal styles. However, there’s still a legitimate market for stability shoes with several manufacturers still leading the pack. Here are three top options:

Adidas Supernova Sequence 5 – This is Adidas flagship stability shoe and a long-time favorite at GearGuide. Fit improves with this latest update.

ASICS Kayano 19 – ASICS top-of-the-line stability shoe with top-of-the-line pricing. It’s lighter than the previous generation but still loaded with stability features. See review.

New Balance 860v3 – Designed for runners that need a go-to stability shoe, the New Balance 860v3 sits on a stiffer suspension than most while still delivering comfort and good looks. See review.

Not every shoe will perform the same for everybody. As you scope out your next running shoe purchase, make sure you visit your local running shoe store and try a range of product before you buy. Alternatively, try one of the many good online guides – like that from REI or others – to help narrow your choices.

Thanks for reading another outdoor gear review from GearGuide. And thanks to ASICS and New Balance for providing product for this review.
