What’s a chronograph, you ask? A chronograph is a watch that combines stopwatch functions with the normal time-telling capabilities of a standard watch. So by definition, that sport watch you’ve been wearing all these years is a chronograph. But those sport watches with their myriad of digital displays just aren’t a cool as an old-school analog chronograph. With multiple dials on a classic watch face, rotating bezels and tachymeters for tracking time or calculating speed, the analog chronograph is highly practical and damn good looking.
We looked at three recently and here’s what we found:
Casio Edifice Black Label Chronograph – The Edifice Black Label Chronograph is made from stainless steel and includes a rubber strap. It’s the only watch in the test with a built-in tachymeter for estimating speed. Read full review.
Dakota Stainless Steel Chronograph – Dakota Watch Company made a name for themselves in the clip-watch world but also sell more traditional watches. Their Stainless Steel Chronograph is heavy, rugged and of the 24 hour variety. Read full review.
Wenger GST Chrono – Probably the most elegant of the bunch, the Swiss Army-famed supplier made the GST pretty capable too. It’s made from stainless steel, has a sapphire crystal, rotating bezel and 12 hour chronograph function. Read full review.
Depending on what you’re looking for, one of these analog chronographs could fit the bill. Try one out and let us know what you think.
