Quick Take Review
We like the guys at McNett. The company occupies a unique part of the outdoor industry supplying products that help revitalize and repair gear. (To us, there’s nothing more satisfying than fixing something that’s been damaged or malfunctioning). The company’s brands include the full line of ReviveX products, which we use to recondition outerwear, Aquaseal, that’s helped us keep waders in service, and a range of tapes and other products for customizing and repairing equipment. McNett recently introduced the Outgo series of microfiber towels. When we received our sample, which came unsolicited from McNett, we decided to give them a try.
Our Outgo PT Pod samples came in two colors, a blue that the company calls Cobalt and DG Green (the DG, I assume, is short for Day Glow). Both are bright and clean looking, suitable for inclusion in your gym bag. If you want a more subdued palette, McNett’s got your back there too with three other colors, Mocha, Khaki and Moss. And if you’re a diehard backcountry gamer, you can get a PT Pod with an imprint of your favorite game board (checker/chess, backgammon, etc.).
The PT Pod is designed to travel. The product arrived in what looked like a pouch. But it’s much more than that, it’s an integrated pocket that can hold more than the towel itself. At about three x five inches, you could easily fit a small phone (not your oversized iPhone 6, sorry), set of keys, spare cash or credit card into the pocket. The pocket closes with a zipper to keep everything secure and can be attached to the outside of a gym bag or backpack with the exterior snap-loop or carabineer.

The towel itself is surprisingly large. It unfolds to almost a yard long and just under two-feet wide. That physical size provided ample surface area for drying off after a hard run. We used and reused it multiple times without the need for laundering. The McNett antimicrobial silver treatment kept the PT Pod from picking up odors. And the suede-like microfiber surface absorbed easily and was extremely comfortable on the skin. No rough edges on the PT Pod.
Overall, we’re pretty impressed with the PT Pod. It does the job, packs away easily and brings some added utility over other competitive offerings thanks to the integrated pocket and attachment points. The game towel version adds even more utility and fun to the mix. They come at a slight premium over competing towels but we think the PT Pods are worth it.
