It’s Mother’s Day! And that means mochaccinos, chocolate croissants, flowers and a few small gifts at our house. If you’re still fishing for a few gift ideas, my suggestion is skip the too-sweet holiday cards this year. Instead, hit your local outdoor gear store on your way to Mom’s and put your cash towards something she can use for running, hiking, camping or just cruising around town. Here’s a few ideas to consider.
Healthy Caramel Goodness
Seriously, Caramel took over for chocolate this year as the top flavor. That and a little sea salt and people are over the moon. Go get your Mom a taste of this in an energy supplement, try the Honey Stinger Caramel Waffle. It reminds us of the stroopwafel’s you get in Europe (and Whole Foods). Organic. Vegetarian. 160 calories. Find them at REI.
Socks you say? As a Mother’s Day gift? Oh, yes! Stance socks as a matter of fact make great gifts. They’re plush and super comfortable. They’re hard wearing too, and come in really great color combinations. We like the Motivation running socks. These guys deliver both moisture wicking and a little extra cushioning for those longer runs. Find them at REI.
The ladies at GearGuide have not been shy in proclaiming their love for the skort. They’re sporty, feminine and oh so practical with those built-in liners. You can find running versions, those designed more for hiking and even more for heading downtown for lunch or the office. We like Kuhl’s Strattus. The fabric is wrinkle resistant, lightweight and breathable. Find them at REI.
When the weather turns warm, we turn to the tank. At least the ladies do. There’s no shortage of highly breathable and performance oriented products these days. We like the Nike Breath Cool tank. Its light polyester fabric helps you keep dry and cool. Its scoop neck provides a nonrestrictive fit. And the t-back delivers excellent ventilation, comfort and coverage. You can find them at the REI.
