Nike Zoom Structure 19 Review

Nike Zoom Structure 19

First Impressions

Might be a little late in getting this review out. But maybe not. The Nike Zoom Structure 19 sits one generation behind the current Zoom Structure 20. But it’s still readily available and quite a bit less expensive than the current model. In some cases as much as 50% less, making the Nike Zoom Structure 19 one heck of a bargain stability shoe. We did ourselves a favor and picked up a pair recently. Here’s our review.

Features

Let’s start with the color choices. Definitely killer. We ended up with the Black/Volt/Blue Lagoon/White version. But frankly, any color in the two-toned Nike Flymesh upper looks amazing. There’s combinations ranging from blues, blacks and greens to crimsons and whites. Essentially any color you’d want in a running shoe.

The Flymesh itself makes for a very comfortable shoe. The mesh upper stretches nicely while still keeping the foot firmly connected to the sole. The tongue integrates into the shoe with elastic that wraps the forefoot. No need to thread laces thru a center eyelet to keep the tongue out of your way when sliding your foot into these shoes.

Wrapping the exterior of the shoe Nike places the Flywire lacing system. It’s more substantial on the upper and interior of the shoe, using a much heavier ribbon of fabric. On the lower exterior, the company employees the thinner braided loops. The system works great and cinches down well.

Materials: Flymesh and synthetic textile uppers, Lunarlon foam rubber

The Nike Zoom Structure 19 comes with a fairly substantial midsole. Nike built it from three components. The white layer provides the most cushion and covers the exterior of the shoe. A dark blue lines the interior edges. And a bright blue cage provides support for pronation across the interior arch.

Despite the inclusion of a Nike Air bladder in the forefoot, don’t expect the Zoom Structure 19 to provide a plush ride. It’s firm and much more controlling than say a Nike Zoom Elite.

The outer sole comes with a hexagonal waffle pattern in the forefoot, and simple rails and heel flares in the rear.

Fit

No complaints. It feels pretty flat when sliding into the Nike Zoom Structure 19 for the first time. The toe box provides ample room. We chose and love our normal size 11.

Final Verdict

We like the Nike Zoom Structure 19. The fit is great, the construction solid. The ride can be a bit jarring but nothing you can’t get used to if you’re coming from a more cushioned shoe. We dig the color too. And they’re a bargain at places like Amazon.
