First Impressions

Hoodies. Man, you can never have enough of them. Pullovers and zippered, loose and form fitting, they’re essential parts of the outdoor gear arsenal. One arrived at GearGuide HQ a month or so ago that might be the nicest one around. It’s the Chrome Cobra Hoodie made from Merino wool. We pulled it out of the package and were instantly impressed.

Features

Why so impressed, you ask? For several reasons. First, the product looks awesome. It’s a deep black color with a subtle red Chrome logo on the lower left side. Second, it’s heavy. Our men’s large sample weighed it at one pound, four ounces. Absolutely great heft and feel. Third, the jacket boasts numerous, very well-thought-out details. Four pockets are located around the jacket including a large zippered cycling pocket on the rear, two zippered handwarmers and a zippered key stash on the left wrist.

The collar is nice and tall. The hood fits well. The jacket and sleeves are cut long suitable for cycling. And two thumb loops at the end of those sleeves complete the package.

Specs
Fabric: 100% Merino wool
Weight: 1 lb, 4 oz

The Chrome Cobra is made from something called Chrome Merino. They put a TM after the word Merino. Why? I don’t know. Frankly, I jumped falsely to the conclusion that the Cobra Chrome was made from a proprietary blend of different yarns. Not unusual these days. Looking at the jacket tag, however, clearly denotes that the Chrome Cobra is proudly 100% Merino wool.

Fit

The Chrome Cobra hues pretty close to the body. I normally wear a medium but found the men’s large was a more appropriate fit. Don’t be afraid to size up unless you like a more form-fitting approach.

Final Verdict

The Chrome Cobra Hoodie made from Merino wool might just be the nicest one around. Wait, I said that already. Probably because I mean it. The styling is great. The details well thought out. If you’re looking for a top-notch hoodie to complement the rest of your collection, check out the Chrome Cobra.
