Seems like everybody has a portable Bluetooth speaker these days. You can get them in the shape of little people, cones, rocks, tubes and much more. They’re the modern equivalent of the old-school boom box. And if you want to take your tunes with you, this is the way. We decided to give a couple of the more rugged versions a try recently and here’s the rundown:

ECOXBTECOXGEAR ECOXBT – This dual speaker offering comes from San Diego-based Grace Digital. Their product provides a fairly robust option with big rubberized handles and bumpers. It’s completely waterproof and floats. $129 MSRP. Read full review.

RuggedTec RoqBloqRuggedTec RoqBloq – Owned by a company called Teton Brands out of Idaho, the RuggedTec RoqBloq is a compact, single speaker design. It’s water- and dust-resistant and comes wrapped in a rubberized outer. $69 MSRP. Read full review.

Depending on what you’re looking for, one of these ruggedized portable Bluetooth speakers should work for you. Try one out and let us know what you think.

Thanks for reading another outdoor gear review from GearGuide. And thanks to ECOXGEAR and RuggedTec for providing products for this review.
