Sierra Design Enforcer Gloves

First Impressions

Sierra Designs is new to the glove business this year and has four new offerings including the Enforcer for Winter, Transporter for Spring and two more mid-weight offerings for on-mountain use. The Enforcer sits at the top of the line and uses a retro-current combination of supple tan leather and synthetics to keep the weather out and the warmth in. Nice package.

Features

Several features set the Enforcer apart. First, the use of deerskin (double walled and double stitched) on the palms give the Enforcer durable gripping surfaces. Second, Sierra Designs padded the palm with 5mm of gel to ease fatigue on that part of the hand. And third, the company placed a small pocket on the rear of each hand for small items or heat packs.

Other features also included in the Enforcer are the soft thumb fabric (for whipping your goggles or nose), drawstring closures and keepers at the gauntlet, and clips for connecting the gloves together.

Specs
Construction: Stitched, welded seams
Fabric: Deerskin and nylon, Tropozone waterproof membrane
Insulation: Thinsulate
Weight: 8.75 oz per pair

Fit

Pretty standard stuff. The Men’s medium fit true to size, although a touch snug. The Thinsulate insulation never felt bulky.

Final Verdict

Great looking retro-cool glove. I love the use of deerskin for that work glove appearance and feel. The Tropozone membrane performed well in our waterproofing test although not in the same class as those using OutDry. We submersed the Enforcer for more than an hour and had no leaks. However, the fabric and leather were soaked through. Still this is a very well done glove. Nice job again Sierra Designs.
