Polarmax Comp 4 Tech Fleece Review
Quick Take Review
Don’t pack it in just yet. Late season storms continue rolling into the Tahoe basin and there’s still time for a few more turns. As the temps fluctuate, picking a baselayer can be a difficult task. Over the season we had the chance to try two Polarmax products that cover the gamut. The company’s Double Base Layer does a terrific job in all but the most extreme conditions. But the real standout for us this season was the Polarmax Comp 4 Tech Fleece.
Polarmax builds the Comp 4 Tech Fleece from a combination of Acclimate Dry polyester and Spandex. When I opened the package on the sample, I couldn’t believe how small and compact the men’s crew and tight looked. No way would those fit. Well, the fabric stretches easily and fits closely to the body without constricting movement.

Material: 4-way stretch Acclimate Dry and Spandex
The brushed interior of the Comp 4 Tech Fleece is very comfortable. And the garment delivered outstanding warmth on cold days. The Polarmax Comp 4 Tech Fleece is so warm in fact that I could shed a mid-layer and still be perfectly comfortable in a howling snow storm.
One knock on the Comp 4 Tech Fleece tight – there’s no fly on the men’s version. Now I realize that potentially increases the versatility of the product, allowing it to be used as a outer layer for winter workouts. But as a baselayer, I still prefer the feature.
If you’re shopping for a new baselayer, definitely give Polarmax a try. The company’s Double Base Layer products served us well over multiple seasons and continue to deliver. And when the going gets really cold – or if you just like being extra warm – definitely try the Polarmax Comp 4 Tech Fleece. You will not be disappointed.
